The Kansas Aggregate Producers’ Association was formed in 1967, from the nucleus of the Kansas Sand and Gravel Producers Association and the Kansas Limestone Association. KAPA maintains a joint office in Topeka, Kansas with the Kansas Ready Mixed Concrete Association (KRMCA) under the direction of Jerry Younger, P.E. The Association staff operates under the direction of the board of directors and conducts business such as lobbying activities, educational activities and meetings, and maintains a close relationship with the national organizations representing these industries. KAPA is dedicated to the betterment of the aggregate industry in the state of Kansas and works for members and non-members. KAPA is dedicated to promoting and enlarging the USE and CONSUMPTION of industry. KAPA is dedicated to the exchange of ideas and information relative to the production, sale and use of aggregate products in Kansas. KAPA provides a basis for the members of the aggregate industry to coordinate their efforts in solving common problems. KAPA is willing to perform acts and services on behalf of the industry that may be more satisfactorily performed by group action as opposed to an individual one. We Are...Your VoiceThe legislative advocacy program monitors the actions of local elected officials and fights to protect your company and your investments. KAPA has two full-time lobbyists to listen to your needs and represent the aggregate industry before the Kansas Legislature. Your AdvertisingThe Association has numerous advertising opportunities. KAPA produces an annual Membership Directory. Companies have the opportunity to publish advertisements in the directory of various sizes depending on the level of sponsorship and the company’s marketing goals. Over 1,500 copies of this publication are distributed every Spring to professionals in the aggregate industry. Your Knowledge SourceKAPA has extensive educational programs provided throughout the year. Together with KRMCA, KAPA offers some regular programs that may include ACI Certification Training, Sales Certification Training, Train the Trainer, Concrete Pavement Repair, and Safety and Health seminars. The cost of the seminars and training varies, but many are free to members. Your Affordable AssociationAt last, a membership where your pocketbook can breathe! KAPA’s annual membership dues are based on your company’s aggregate production during the preceding calendar year. You Can...Be InvolvedOne of the best ways to network in the aggregate industry is to serve on a committee. KAPA offers several ways to be involved. KAPA offers a Research and Specification Committee designed in conjunction with KDOT to discuss issues such as specific gravity, sample testing, etc. KAPA also offers an Environment and Safety Committee designed in conjunction with MSHA to discuss environmental issues, safety awards, and training. Be a PlayerKAPA, in conjunction with KRMCA, hosts many special events during the year. Members can enjoy events such as the Annual Convention, Birdie Bash Golf Tournament, Mid-Year Meeting, and Annual Awards Ceremony.
