KDHE's Proposed Changes to Ready Mix Permits

Greetings KRMCA members,

KDHE has begun the process necessary for reissuing the Kansas/NPDES General Water Pollution Control Permit for ready mix plants and associated facilities. The current permit expires on September 30, 2022. You all went through a similar process in 2017.

Attached are the associated info and forms that KDHE intends to submit to EPA for review and approval. The forms should be familiar to everyone, however, KDHE has proposed "minor" changes. Those changes are highlighted.

Please review the attached info. We have scheduled a zoom call with KDHE representatives to provide KRMCA members an opportunity to hear more info about the reissuance process from KDHE and to ask questions or share concerns.

I've also heard concerns from some of you regarding the inspections being done this year and the contract inspectors (non-KDHE employees) doing the inspection. I've told KDHE that we would also use the July 6th zoom call for KRMCA members to share concerns/input on those inspections.
