Description:  This presentation will give a brief basic overview of insulating concrete forms (ICFs) and precast concrete.  The presenters will answer the following questions:  What are ICFs and what is precast concrete? What are the benefits of each system?  How is each installed/erected?  What types of buildings are constructed from precast concrete and ICFs?     

Learning Objectives:

• 1.    By the end of the presentation, attendees will have a working knowledge of what insulating concrete forms and precast concrete are.
• 2.    At the conclusion of the presentation, participants will be able to identify some benefits of using insulating concrete forms and precast concrete.
• 3.    Participants will understand ways that insulating concrete forms and precast concrete can be used and installed or erected.
• 4.    Participants will have a basic knowledge of the different types of buildings that can be constructed from ICFs and precast concrete.

Micah Garrett is COO of BuildBlock Building Systems and Chair of the Insulating Concrete Forms Manufacturers Association’s Education Committee.

Randy Wilson is Director of Architectural Precast Systems at PCI – a national trade association representing the precast concrete industry.
